So you are fed up of hearing about this latest gaming trend Animal Crossing. Your friends mention it, compare their achievements or failures, while you often encounter streaming videos of it on YouTube.

Well, are you fed up or secretly jealous? You want to give it a try, you crave it, but you`re finding it hard to buy a Nintendo Switch just for Animal Crossing, just for one game?

If you are one of those, and haven`t convinced parents or even nanna to cough up the cash, we hear you and we feel you, and that`s why we suggest you check out these five alternative pc or laptop games which can be found on Steam. Who cares if they are not the real deal, these can give you the same Animal Crossing feels, and be a little less envious of your friends` island life, at the very least.

1. Stardew Valley

This game combines Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing to create a compelling and utterly addictive gaming experience. Keeping farming at its heart, enjoy a simple life as you live off the land, grow crops, tend to livestock and craft more efficient equipment.

Mingle in the busy town, forge relationships with its citizens, you never know it might even lead to marriage and kids! There`s so much to do in Stardew Valley, with the recent multiplayer update you can now fish, fight, plant and sow your seeds with your closest farmhouse friends online. It just gets
better and better.

2. Garden Paws

Adorable characters, equivalent of the Sylvanian Family, you play as a pint-sized animal tasked to building up a prospering community. Run a shop to earn coins, battle through dangerous dungeons, and take on exciting quests, as you work your little paws.

Over 500+ hours of content to enjoy, Garden Paws continues to grow with regular updates and new gameplay modes to try, like online multiplayer, up to 32 furry friends, cute!

3. My Time at Portia

New life awaits in the enchanting town of Portia, but first you will have to restore your father`s dilapidated workshop to its former glory. Make friends with the townsfolk, farm like harvest is just around the corner, and become a house designer as you collect and craft all sorts of furniture.

To assist you in your adventure, you can level up your character with numerous skills to fit your play-style. Become more social or put all your efforts into combat, the choice is yours. There are so many tasks to tackle in my Time at Portia, that you will only wish you had an infinite amount of time
to get everything done.

4. Little Dragons Café

Ever wanted to work at a café and raise a dragon? Of course you do! This game will help you realize just this, as you train your very own scaly companion from a weak-winged baby into a fire-breathing adult.

You will have to run the café too of course, preparing delicious dishes, serving customers and managing a team of staff and visitors who think keeping a dragon as a pet is totally normal.

To keep your café stocked with supplies, you will need to venture out into an expansive world filled with secrets, wildlife, and dangers to overcome as you collect ingredients to cook new recipes at your café. Isn`t that lovely.

5. Hokko Life

This one mirrors the Animal Crossing formula so closely, that you might be forgiven to think it’s a cheap imitation, but that would be rather unfair, considering the game has yet to be released and does bring some fresh ideas to the table.

Hokko Life lets you craft your own furniture using materials you find in the world. Also, the level of customisation exceeds that of Animal Crossing! Swirl your own paints, upholster a deck chair, or create outfits, you can personalize the game however you like.

Let`s see if this game can give Animal Crossing a good challenge, or as they say, a run for it`s money.

So there you have them folks, five alternative games to Animal Crossing, to keep you busy during your quarantine life. So stop sulking, take a break from Netflix, and go to Steam. Tell us which one tickled your fancy the most, we`re curious.
